Spaceship Earth at EPCOT will be temporarily closing for routine refurbishment as of August 25, 2025. The attraction is planned to reopen later this year, though no reopening date has been confirmed.

EXPLORE THE HISTORY OF SPACESHIP EARTH

Spaceship Earth opened with EPCOT Center on October 1, 1982, and has remained a centerpiece ever since. The ride takes guests on a 16-minute slow-moving journey through the history of human communication, from prehistoric cave paintings to satellites orbiting Earth.

As you ride in your time-traveling “omnimover” vehicle, you pass through beautifully detailed scenes featuring:

• Ancient Egyptian scribes inventing papyrus

• Greek philosophers discussing democracy

• Gutenberg printing his famous Bible

• Scholars of the Renaissance

• 1960s computer programmers coding

At the very top of the sphere, guests are treated to a breathtaking view of planet Earth from space, before gliding back down with a humorous interactive feature that lets you “design your future.”
