WDW CLOSURES & REFURBISHMENTS

Here’s a detailed breakdown of current and upcoming attraction closures and refurbishments at Walt Disney World (as of June 28, 2025), organized by park:

Magic Kingdom

• Big Thunder Mountain Railroad Closed January 6, 2025 for a multi-year refurbishment. Expected to reopen sometime in 2026 with “a little bit of new magic”.

• Astro Orbiter Closed January 13, 2025, reopened June 27, 2025 after a six‑month refurbishment.

• The Hall of Presidents was closed for refurbishment but reopened June 29th 2025!

• Tom Sawyer Island & Liberty Square Riverboat Last operating day for both was July 6, 2025. Closing July 7 to make way for Cars‑themed Piston Peak National Park.

• Frontierland Railroad Station Also closed July 7, with shuttle‑mode service elsewhere on the railroad.

• Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin Scheduled closure from August 4, 2025 into 2026 for a major overhaul: updated vehicles, targets, scenes, animatronics.

• Under The Sea - Journey Of The Little Mermaid Closing July 21, 2025 - July 26, 2025 for brief refurbishment.

EPCOT

• Test Track Closed since June 17, 2024 for a complete reimagining ("Test Track 3.0"); set to reopen July 22, 2025.

• Spaceship Earth Set to close for refurbishment starting August 25, 2025; will remain offline through the rest of 2025.

Disney’s Hollywood Studios

• MuppetVision 3D (Muppets Courtyard) & PizzeRizzo Both closed permanently on June 7–8, 2025 to make way for a new Monsters, Inc land.

• Rock ’n’ Roller Coaster Will be rethemed to a Muppets version—closure date TBD, likely in 2025 or 2026.

• Voyage of the Little Mermaid Retitled and reopening as “The Little Mermaid: A Musical Adventure” in summer 2025.

Disney’s Animal Kingdom

• TriceraTop Spin, Dino‑Rama & Boneyard Permanently closed January 12–13, 2025 to prepare for Tropical Americas expansion.
